REDive restores colour in underwater diving photos and videos. This page says exactly what the service records, for how long, and what it does not collect. It describes the software as it works today, not an intention.
Who is responsible
REDive is a personal project, open free of charge to a private circle of family and friends. It is not a commercial service: no company, no payment, no open sign-up.

Your files
Your originals are never modified. You send a copy; the file on your device stays untouched.
During your session the service keeps the copy you sent, the reduced images it builds for previews, and the corrected files you download.
All of it is deleted when you leave — on sign-out, or about thirty seconds after your last tab closes. If your browser could not say goodbye, because the connection dropped or the tab was killed, deletion happens at most ten minutes after the last sign of life. An export in progress is never interrupted: deletion waits for it to finish.
What survives that deletion: one row per imported file, holding its date, its size, and whether it was a photo or a video. Not the file name, not its contents, not a thumbnail. It exists to show how much the service is being used during the beta.
Your photo metadata
A diving photo often carries the capture date, the camera model and the GPS position of the site. REDive hands those back unchanged in the corrected file you download, so your photos sort to the right day in your library.
Note what follows from that: if you then share the file publicly, the dive site's position travels with it. This is how photo software normally behaves, and it is your file — but it is worth knowing.
An invitation request
If you ask for an invitation from the welcome page, the studio keeps your name, your email address — encrypted, like account addresses — and the diving level you picked. One request per address. It is deleted as soon as the host has answered, whether an invitation was sent or not.
Your account

Cookies
One, the one that keeps you signed in. It is httponly (no
script can read it), samesite=strict (never sent from another
site) and, over HTTPS, Secure. No advertising cookie, no
tracker, no analytics — which is why there is no banner to dismiss.
Your browser also keeps, for itself alone, your language choice and any unsent feedback draft. Those never leave your machine.
Your feedback
When you send feedback from the studio, this goes with it: your message, the screen you were on, the name and type of the selected file, the correction mode, your window size, your language, your browser identifier and the last error encountered. Nothing else, and nothing automatically — it is sent only when you click.
Video processing
Photos are corrected on the studio's own server. A video may be handed to Blade, a remote compute service, for encoding: the file is sent there, processed, the result comes back, and the remote copy is removed when processing ends. Hosting country for those machines: [to be confirmed with Blade].
What REDive does not do
- No selling, no commercial sharing of your data.
- No advertising, no profiling.
- Your images are not used to train any model.
- No payment: the beta is free and no card details are asked for.
Your rights
You may ask for access to your data, its correction, its deletion, or a portable copy. Your files already delete themselves every session. For the rest, write to the address above; you will get an answer within a month. You may also complain to your national data protection authority — in France, the CNIL.
When this page changes
The date at the top is what counts. A change that actually affects you will be announced in the studio, not slipped in quietly here.
